The Australian goth rock icon and his Bad Seeds have had a massive impact on the alternative music scene since they exploded in 1984 with their debut album, “From Her To Eternity”. Initially drawing heavily on genres such as post-punk, blues, and gothic rock, and later electronic and ambient styles, the band became a force to be reckoned with. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have been hailed as “one of the most original and celebrated bands of the post-punk and alternative rock eras in the ‘80s and onwards.” In 1996, the band released their best-selling album to date, “Murder Ballads”. It is undeniable: with their brilliantly stark, apocalyptic odes to love and human nature, often accompanied by a delicious post-modern twist and their signature deprecating humor, and smash hits such as “Red Right Hand”, “Loverman”, the cover of the folk song “Henry Lee” and the charting collaboration with Kylie Minogue, “Where the Wild Roses Grow”, everything Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds is a masterpiece.
Their collection of accolades includes an APRA Award for Songwriter of the Year, seven ARIA Music Awards, an induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame, two Music Victoria Awards, two MOJO Awards, and an Ivor Novello Award for “Push the Sky Away”.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds live in concert is like watching masters at work.
