Lauryn Hill's got something big for her fans – a special 25th-anniversary tour celebrating her iconic debut solo album, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill." The album dropped in 1998 and remains iconic until today. This record mixed R&B, hip-hop, and pop like never before and even got a spot in the Library of Congress in 2015. It even went on to win a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Lauryn Hill made history too! She bagged ten Grammy nominations in a single year and won five in one night. Epic, right? She's one of the biggest forces in the music industry!
Since then, she's only released one album – that "MTV Unplugged" one from 2001. Yet, she's been touring all along. The good news? The Fugees are coming along for the U.S. leg of Lauryn Hill's tour. It's going to be epic!
Lauryn Hill said in a statement: “‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ is and was a love song to my parents, my family, my people, my musical and cultural forebears, my teachers, my loves, my Creator. I wrote love songs and protest songs— (still love songs) about the subjects and interests that inspired and moved me. I was confident that what inspired me would resonate with an audience that had been led to believe that songs of that kind could only live in the past.
“I loved music, I loved people, I truly felt grateful to God for my life, and genuinely blessed to have a platform where I could share wisdom and perspective through music,” she continues. “I felt a charge to challenge the idea that certain kinds of expression and/or certain kinds of people didn’t belong in certain places. I loved showing what could work or happen provided there was imagination, creativity and LOVE leading the way.”
Lauryn's super excited to meet every single one of her fans, and you should be excited to witness her perform live too! It's going to be an unforgettable event so don't miss out on it. Grab your tickets to the show today!
